If renting an e-bike for multiple days, do I get a battery charger?
YES – battery chargers are provided at no extra cost. Also for multiple day hires if you’re staying in Port Ellen you have the option to leave your bike back with us in the evening before 18:00 for recharging.
Do I need to reserve bikes before arrival?
We can’t guarantee bikes will be available if you’ve not reserved beforehand, Reservations can be made online, by e-mail or by phone.
How far can an e-bike travel on one battery?
The distance you can travel on an e-bike can vary greatly and is dependent on many factors, such as the weight of the rider, weather conditions and the rider’s choice of power assistance. On average you will achieve up to 20 miles per charge on the standard e-bike and up to 60 miles on the premium e-bike, Additional batteries are not provided.
What if the weather is not suitable?
With your safety in mind we will cancel all bookings if the weather is not suitable. If this happens you will receive a full refund.
Do we deliver/collect bicycles?
Yes, we deliver/collect bicycles anywhere on Islay. Before booking for delivery, please contact us by e-mail or phone to request delivery.
Can I continue cycling if the battery runs out?
The e-bikes can be cycled without battery power. Please don’t cycle beyond the battery limits unless you are prepared to cycle a heavy bike. It’s the responsibility of the rider to return the bike to our base in Port Ellen.
Do I need to pedal?
The e-bikes do not have a throttle, instead, they provide automatic assistance to enhance any pedalling you do. The amount of assistance can be varied by a simple push button control on the handlebar which allows you to cycle through the available power assistance modes. If you are not pedaling then you’ll not be receiving any assistance.
Can I ride a bike under the influence of alcohol?
NO – It is against the law to cycle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Is there an age limit?
You need to be 18+ to rent our e-bikes and 14+ to ride them.
So, a child aged 14+ can use one of our e-bikes provided an adult is responsible for the hire.
What happens if something goes wrong?
On the rare occasion that the e-bike breaks down, you can give us a call on: 07497 090 716 or 07824 612 819
If we are unable to fix or swap the bike we will call a taxi for you.
Can I ride off-road?
NO – Our bikes are not suitable for off-road riding. Please keep the bikes off the beach.
Cancellation Policy
If you decide to cancel your reservation 5 days or more before your hire you will receive a full refund.
If you cancel within the 5 days you will receive a 50% refund.
If we cancel your booking due to bad weather or for any other reason you will receive a full refund.
